Idiom Sweep the Board at Young Enterprise Regional Final

Idiom swept the board last night, at an awards ceremony held in the Easterbrook Hall.

The directors, all under the age of 18 now intend on starting to trade as a limited company from July; having created a children’s story book about a Belted Galloway Cow who goes on an adventure across Dumfries & Galloway Looking for her brother Ben.

The company enlisted the support of eight prominent partners – all major tourism venues across Dumfries & Galloway – working with them, and including them within their book ‘Bonnie the Beltie’

Their drive and enthusiasm saw them take top honours at the Dumfries & Galloway Local Area Young Enterprise Scotland Annual Awards – beating seven other companies from across the region.

As well as winning the Best Company Overall, the Business also took home the Best Trade Stand, Best Interview, Digital Media Award and Best Report; as well as Business Advisor, Derek Crichton taking home the ‘Business Advisor of the Year’ title – and Managing Director Lyle Hamilton being awarded Regional Managing Director of the Year.

Managing Director, Lyle Hamilton commended the competition, and said "the standard of the competition was so high this year, every school brought something unique and different. We are extremely proud of what we have achieved, but none of it would have been possible without the support of those around us.

The Company will now go on to represent Dumfries & Galloway at the Scottish Finals on the 5th of June.
